2010 Moving Ahead: A Forum for Reporting Progress

Tune in for up-to-date news about Youngstown 2010 development plans

Making the Youngstown and Mahoning Valley area a healthier and better place to live and work is the core of the Youngstown 2010 plan. Western Reserve PBS presents 2010 Moving Ahead: A Forum for Reporting Progress, quarterly broadcasts that update viewers on the most recent developments in the planning process.

Youngstown 2010 is a planning initiative developed by the city of Youngstown, Ohio, in partnership with Youngstown State University. As presented to the community in December 2002, Youngstown 2010 is guided by four major principles:

  • Accepting that Youngstown is a smaller city

  • Defining Youngstown’s role in the new regional economy

  • Improving Youngstown’s image and enhancing quality of life

  • A call to action

The Western Reserve PBS broadcasts enable community leaders to updated Mahoning Valley residents on progress toward meeting Youngstown 2010 goals. Programs presented since 2003 have covered a variety of topics, including the following:

  • Community forums

  • The future of Youngstown’s neighborhoods

  • Addressing issues of race relations

  • Introduction of the Youngstown 2010 comprehensive plan

  • Urban redesign

  • Mayor Jay Williams’ vision for Youngstown

2010 Moving Ahead: A Forum for Reporting Progress is underwritten by the Tony LaRiccia family of Youngstown. Future programs will focus on one or two dimensions of the plan, such as regionalism, health care, education, religion, recreation, the arts and more. Watch this site for broadcast information, or call Western Reserve Public Media at 1-800-554-4549.

Written copies of the Youngstown 2010 citywide plan are available for viewing at the Youngstown Public Library, the Youngstown State University Maag Library or the Youngstown Planning Department office.
