Student Video Challenge 2010

If you’re like many educators, you have recognized that when you put a video camera into the hands of your students, learning is transformed and connections to classroom concepts become more exciting.

Then, add the mobility of video produced by students — via the Internet, mobile computers and even cell phones — and you realize that the walls of learning have been knocked down and students are experienced content creators.

Western Reserve Educational Services announces an exciting contest for your student video producers. The Ohio Ed Techs Student Video Challenge is a collaborative effort among the eight Ohio Ed Tech Agencies to provide a platform for student content creators from across the state.

The video challenge is open to grades 9-12 and this year focuses on the common theme of nutrition. Students may submit works on nutrition topics such as eating well, the role nutrients play in the body or chemicals found within food.

Deadline for regional entries is March 1, 2010, with state winners announced in April. Western Reserve Educational Services winners in the grades 11-12 level will receive a Canon digital camcorder package for their school and winners in the grade 9-10 level will receive a Flip Ultra digital camera and accessories for their school.
