Western Reserve Public Media’s Best of All Festival To Be a Celebration of Public Television

KENT, Ohio — May 21, 2010 — Western Reserve Public Media kicks off a year-end fundraising campaign this weekend that is designed to help the organization reach its goal of $378,500 in member support by June 30.

The campaign, called Best of All Festival, is a celebration of Western Reserve PBS programming and all that is good in public television. On air, it will feature the best of PBS pledge programming, including music, health and wellness and documentary programs.

“Unlike many television services, our organization exists to enrich and uplift the lives of all people in Northeast Ohio,” said Trina Cutter, Western Reserve Public Media president and CEO. “That is a mission worth celebrating and supporting.” Donors can contribute online by going to www.WesternReservePBS.org.

Following are highlights of Best of All Festival programming:

Saturday, May 29
Daniel O’Donnell: Hope and Praise — 7 p.m.
This uplifting concert features hymns, gospel and pop songs performed with an orchestra and choirs.
   
The Civil War: The Universe of Battle — 9 p.m.
At the turning point of the war, 150,000 troops fought to the death in the Battle of Gettysburg.
   
Wednesday, June 2
Carole King and James Taylor: Live at the Troubadour — 8 p.m.
Taylor and King celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Los Angeles club with a great set of songs.
   
Diane Warren: Love Songs — 9:30 p.m.
Gloria Estefan, Eric Benet, LeAnn Rimes and others perform the artist’s hits with a live orchestra.
   
Thursday, June 3

Elaine Paige: Celebrating a Life Onstage — 8 p.m.
The entertainer performs new songs and her West End/Broadway hits and discusses her 40 year career.

   

The Canadian Tenors: Live in Toronto — 9 p.m.
Four gifted young men showcase diverse styles, undeniable charm and incredibly powerful voices.

   

Back Care Basics: Yoga for the Rest of Us — 10:30 p.m.
Learn stretches and exercises that are most beneficial to back care.

   
Sunday, June 6
The Canadian Tenors: Live in Toronto — 6 p.m.
Four gifted young men showcase diverse styles, undeniable charm and incredibly powerful voices.
   
4Troops: Live From the USS Intrepid — 7:30 p.m.
A pop vocal group made up of Iraq and Afghanistan combat veterans performs uplifting songs.
   
Carole King and James Taylor: Live at the Troubadour — 9 p.m.
Taylor and King celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Los Angeles club with a great set of songs.
   
Rick Steves’ European Insights — 10:30 p.m.
Steves brings history to life in Pisa and explores the Danish Nazi Resistance Museum in Copenhagen.
   
Wednesday, June 9
The Canadian Tenors: Live in Toronto — 8 p.m.
Four gifted young men showcase diverse styles, undeniable charm and incredibly powerful voices.
   
Girls From the North Country — 9:30 p.m.
The Canadian duo Dala performs in Toronto with special guests The Good Lovelies and Oh Susanna.
   
Joel Harper’s Slim and Fit — 10:30 p.m.
The celebrity trainer and Dr. Michael Roizen return with another dynamic fitness program.
