Western Reserve PBS (formerly PBS 45 & 49) celebrates the holiday season this December with a variety of specials featuring music, dance and children’s programming. Shows that are new to the schedule are marked with an asterisk (*).

Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Ghosts of Christmas Eve — 9:30 p.m.

This musical story is about a young runaway who finds herself hiding in an abandoned theater on Christmas eve. Features Jewel and the late Ossie Davis.

Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration — 9 p.m.

This program includes popular Christmas classics that embody the beautiful voices of Celtic Woman.

As Christmas lights glow in Jackson Hole, Wyo., a holiday season of a different sort settles in nearby in the great winter world of Yellowstone.

*Downe in Yon Forrest: Christmas From the Middle Ages — 3 a.m.

As this yuletide Christmas concert is performed, the background history of each song is given.

   

*L.A. Holiday Celebration 2008 — 4 a.m.

Over 1,000 performers represent the many cultures and holiday traditions found in Los Angeles.

*Lorie Line: The Glory of Christmas — 10 p.m.

Learn about the history of the 12 days of Christmas and enjoy many favorite songs and carols.

*Faith Hill, Joy to the World: A Soundstage Special — 8 p.m.

The popular country singer performs holiday favorites backed by an orchestra led by esteemed conductor David Campbell.
