The Magic of the Diary of Anne Frank
Saturday, Sept. 9, at 9 p.m.
Repeats Sunday, Sept. 10, at 1:30 a.m.
Since its publication in 1947, “The Diary of Anne Frank” has been read by people of all ages across the globe. In academic settings, Anne Frank’s journal often serves as an entry point to learning about the Holocaust, and it is through reading and reliving the honest thoughts of 13-year-old Anne that young students begin to grapple with the atrocities of World War II. Readers follow her as she crouches in a hidden room and listen with open ears as she admits to falling in love.
THE MAGIC OF THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK recounts how Anne’s diary first came to production and charts its unprecedented international influence. The film also visits an Argentinian replica of the secret annex that Anne Frank hid in; her memorial site at what was once the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp; and the Anne Frank Center in New York.
